About Connecting the Pixels
Connecting the Pixels is a series about the future of games and the people and technologies shaping it.
I explore how technology, creativity, and culture intersect in the evolving world of interactive entertainment. And how the ways we create, play, and connect are being redefined.
I write for anyone curious about where games are heading next: developers, designers, storytellers, technologists, or simply people who love the medium.
About Martin Walfisz
I’ve spent nearly three decades in gaming—as founder, CEO, investor, and advisor—navigating the industry through its many significant transformations.
Back in 1997, I founded Massive Entertainment straight out of university and led it from a handful of people to one of Europe’s most respected studios. After taking it public and selling it to Vivendi Games (later Activision Blizzard), Massive became part of Ubisoft, where it now employs more than 700 developers.
Since then, I’ve co-founded and led multiple companies across the industry. Currently, as CEO of publicly listed Thunderful Group, I guided the company through a major turnaround; restructuring operations, driving efficiency, and securing Atari’s majority investment to set up its next chapter. Earlier, as Co-Founder and Chief Strategy Officer at Nordisk Games, I helped invest nearly EUR 300 million across ten European studios, supporting over a thousand developers and driving strong returns.
I’ve also worked to strengthen the European games ecosystem—founding the Association of Swedish Game Developers, Game Habitat, and Bornholm Game Days.
Across all of these experiences, my focus has been the same: understanding how creativity, technology, and people come together to build something lasting—and how those patterns evolve as the industry changes.
